135 Cumberland Street, Dunedin Central

Dunedin Heritage Apartments

Superb accommodation in the heart of the city. Heritage buildings, a great location and a stay you will not forget.

About the buildings

135 Cumberland Street

Dave bought 135 Cumberland Street in December 2015 as a complete wreck. The building was nominated for an earthquake strengthening engineering award in early 2017, and the strengthening work was finished that July. In September 2017 it was listed as a Category One heritage building. It was quite the journey, but the result is a place with real character, and it is a building the city can be proud of.

Union Steam Building, 38 Water Street

The building still carries its original Union Steam Ship Company signage, a reminder of Dunedin’s shipping past. Our Handy Inner City Apartment is one of the spaces here, right in the middle of town.

Heritage character

Exposed brick, deep window sills and original detail throughout. Guests often say it feels like a place with real history.

City location

Cafes, bakeries, restaurants and attractions are all within walking distance. The railway station is a short stroll away.

Dunedin has a busy events calendar, from markets and festivals to live music and shows. Check what is on before you visit.
